U.S. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) slammed politicians who say they care about the massive influx of drugs causing an overdose crisis in Arizona, yet do nothing to curb the source.

"Any politician who claims to care about the surge in drug overdose deaths hitting our communities, but is against building a wall and deporting illegal aliens is a lying fraud," the congressman said on Twitter.

Crane has been a supporter of border control and American safety, calling for the Biden administration to stop its negligence at the border after the expiration of Title 42, a pandemic era policy that allowed migrants at the border to be turned away from the country or expelled to preserve the health and safety of Americans. Since it expired in early May, border communities have been overrun by an influx of migrants, Sanctuary Cities like Chicago and New York saying they have run out of room and money for them, and border centers are continually operating well over maximum capacity.

The more open border also allows for greater opportunity for drug smuggling, with massive amounts of drugs including fentanyl being brought into the country. The drug is considered the number one cause of overdoses, as just two milligrams is considered a fatal dose.

“According to border officials, a border patrol K-9 sniffed out $2 MILLION in smuggled fentanyl during a traffic stop in Arizona last week," the American First Policy Institute posted in a June 5 tweet. "The amount was enough to kill 48 MILLION people!”

Crane also shared stories of drug loads uncovered during border crossings. An article he referenced from Just The News said “through the southern border between ports of entry in Arizona, federal agents recently seized enough fentanyl to kill more than 450 million people at several ports of entry and checkpoints.” Multiple cars and drivers were stopped as a part of the bust, each carrying enough fentanyl to kill at least several million people, among other amounts of methamphetamine and ammunition in some cases."
