The Prescott City Council is leaning on the public through a survey to determine the future of its Parklets Program, which allows restaurants to use parking spaces to expand outdoor seating.
The program was designed to help restaurants navigate through the difficulties of limited seating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The city reported in a press release that the program was meant to be temporary. During a special study session, the council made a request to end the program because of weather and other possible issues.
Mayor Greg Mengarelli asked those in favor and against the program to weigh in on a possible date to conclude it. As part of the request, the mayor asked that weather and the coronavirus restrictions be taken into consideration.
Results from the survey will be presented to the council for its consideration at a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13, the press release reported. It is also noted the survey is intended for resident feedback rather than downtown business.
