Prescott's Planning and Zoning Commission has approved plans and rezoning for the Arizona Eco Development (AED) North and South on Sept. 15.

Since AED is proposing land for annexation that is greater than 350 acres, there will be a required 60-day public comment period, according to a press release from the City of Prescott. After the comment period, there will be a final approval of the annexation by the city council, which must have at least six affirmative votes.

The comment period started on Sept. 16 and will end on Saturday, Nov. 14 for the projects.  After Nov. 14, the city council will hold a public hearing to openly discuss the projects and take a vote.

“I am pleased that the matter of AED is moving forward,” Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli said in the press release. “After over two years, the matter will now be decided by Prescott City Council. I am hopeful that this matter can be approved by the end of 2020. Given that the basic structure of the annexation agreement has been outlined in a signed Letter of Intent (LOI), I am confident we can get this done.”
